The main sections related to Ivanov describe a Wednesday gathering at the tower at which Akhmatova read a poem, welcomed by Ivanov as an “event in Russian poetry,” and Kuzmin’s rooms and literary life in Ivanov’s flat. Kuzmin’s best writing was done under the patronage of Ivanov, who had a unique gift for directing the talent of others. Reprinted with the addition of two further chapters: 1952.5.
